    Description

    First, never buy a used koteka!
    This NEW woven and painted penis sheath from Papua New Guinea has the tags from when it was purchased the Fowler Museum store of UCLA -- yet it is vintage.
    Measures approximately 19.5” long
    Unlike other tribal penis covers / kotekas you will find for sale, this ceremonial penis cover is very elaborate with a bearded face woven into the straw (look at the photos - very complex weaving) and an animal face on the tip.
    The descriptive tag reads: Penis cover
    Kaminabit, Kararau & Mameri Villages, Iatmul Tribe, Speik River, New Guinea. Gourd decorated with twine, shells and clay colors. Sometimes decorated with faces and clan animals. Used for dances and ceremonies.
    Woven hanger makes this easy to suspend or hang.
